The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Thinking of picking up the WM800 wireless mic for my APX8000. Right now we all use the XVP830’s and they work great but coming here to see if anyone has any comments on the WM800 ( specifically being paired / used with the 8000’s ).
Any feedback good or bad is welcome on them.

I enjoy my WM800 mic. I use it mainly with the APX NEXT. It has a really good battery life and form factor. One caveat I have seen in use with standard APX (non-NEXT) is that you cannot transmit on analog channels. You can receive just fine, but transmitting is a no-no. The NEXT line allows full use of analog on the mic. This could be an issue for you, possibly if your use case involves talking on analog.

Also should let you know that connection to non-NEXT radios was supported in a newer FW update for the mic. If you are buying the mic from Motorola or even a dealer, then it should be fine, but if its second hand then it may not have new enough firmware to work on an 8000. FW can be bumped very easily, but it requires a NEXT radio, as that is the "computer" that the mic gets its FW from.

What he said, the only way to F/W upgrade is to marry it with a NEXT or N series and it will download the update to the mike. After that, it will work with 8000s and BN 6000s. It will not work with AN 6000s or at least the ones we have in service with F/W 36.61 (the last release for old milk AN6000s).

Thank you for the feedback !
Our main dispatch is P25, but we still use some analog frequencies ( I know, it’s 2026 but certain sites we have still are stuck on analog ) so this mic will unfortunately be a no-go until we upgrade to the NEXT.

I recently got one for my APX 6000 BN and I find the audio quality to be quite terrible. It sounds very tinny. Granted, I was used to the radio speaker and my XVE 500 mics, which have phenomenal audio. I almost got the older Bluetooth RSM, but I figured the WM800 would have better audio being newer and larger, but it still sounds terrible.

I concur with this, I also have one for my 6000 and only use it to monitor hands free and the audio is horrible. Compare that to my mission critical wireless mic and its night and day difference. I also use it with my xve, xvp, and xvn mics and we all know the audio on those is hands down amazing, lately though i've been finding myself continuously using the xvp mic just for simple fact that its lighter, the form factor is better, and I don't compromise audio quality.

So you’re saying the WM800 is even worse than the (not amazing either) old blue-dot RSM?
