Interesting read. The article does say there is a possibility of there being a unencrypted media channel. Hopefully the dispatch channels will run in the clear to run the tows/media purposes. If that were the case, it would seem unrealistic that the dispatchers would be constantly switching back to the and forth to the media channel and dispatch channel to update the tows.

With the eventuality that OPP, etc are going encrypted will you continue your scanner hobby or give it up? What else is there to listen to? My current 436HP may be the last scanner I ever buy. I guess it depends on where you are and what else you can monitor aside from emergency services. I wonder if the SDS200 is worth the money in a few years with encryption in play? or sdr's?
