Hello. I am from Chapleau. I was just wondering, for the OPP, is SIM 2 the same as SIM 1 140.970, because the other night the OPP North Bay COMM Centre had to be evacuated, cuz their Carbon something detector was going off, and North Bay told all units to go to SIM 2, since SIM 1 would only work car-car. All calls were being handled by the Orilla OPP COMM Centre. So if anyone can let me know if SIM 2 is the same as SIM 1, so I will know for next time what the freq is, if they are told to go to SIM 2. Thanks.

If you have the NOR system programmed into your scanner then you already have SIM2.

Sim2 just uses the "A" channels of each site without the data active.

For instance, cars from a detachment that normally uses the Group 9 site would be found on 9A which is 143.1600. If you've already got all the Group 9 frequencies in, then you won't miss anything.

Strange that they would go to SIM2 though. I wouldn't think Orillia would have the capability of dispatching on SIM2. They would be able to talk to the cars on SIM1 though. Sim1 is not strictly car to car. It's car to car or car to Comm Centre.

It's me again. So just to clarify, SIM 2 then would be the same as SIM 1. What do you mean Mike_Oxlong by" Sim2 just uses the "A" channels of each site without the data active". For here in Chapleau we use group 4 which is: 141.495, 141.705, but since their tower got hit one night i guess by lightning, it took out the 141.495 tower (which is the North Tower for here), so the only Chapleau tower we have is: 141.705 now, untill or unless they fix that other Chapleau tower 141.495 sometime, if they ever do. To the answer of you last reply on your letter, One of the North Bay dispatchers came on and told the units to go to SIM 2, and keep your repeater on when your at the office, and that Orilla COMM Centre would be handling any calls for the area, if any came in, but none came into here. That was the reason why I wanted to know if SIM 2 was the same as SIM 1, just incase as I didn't have the freq for SIM 2 set in or know what it was, if it was not the same as SIM 1.

No, Sim 2 is not Sim 1.

If you normally listen on 141.495 and 141.705, then Sim 2 for the cars on that tower would be 141.495.

So the next time if I here that they have to use SIM 2 again, I just would listen to the active tower then the one with the sqawking noise, for here now it would only be 141.705, unless they get the other tower fixed. I just want to make sure I have this right, so if it happens again I won't have to ask anymore, that's all. Thanks.

The way i remember the nor system working on sim2 is like Mike was saying.Your tower becomes sim2 with different towers being for different detachments. The towers have A channel and B channel, just try to find the action for the desired area of listening and you should be ok.
