OPP Yankee units in 6 London

I was driving with my beautiful wife today thru Brant and Haldimand Co and heard "Yankee" units on the usual Brant/Haldimand patch. There were also some Canine units and few Alpha units on as well.

Alpha units I think are ESU units and travel where they are needed but I forget if Yankee units are also Esu types as well.

I didn't really hear the incident or pay attention but a few new UID's/Rids came up when the Yankee units (two of them) spoke.

Yankee units are the ERT members once they are assigned to an event/incident.
I hear them on the TAC talkgroups but only when one of the cars are in range of the tower I am picking up.
On their way back to their "home" detachments they usually switch back to regular OPS but retain the call sign until they park it.

I forgot to mention that the talkgroup I was listening to was also patched with Lodon Tac 2.

The 900 series are ERT members but are on regular duty.
My experience is that once assigned to an event they go YANKEE.
When the event is clear and back in their regular patrol zone they go 900 again.

Just because a member is ERT doesn't mean they get to go on all events.
I have heard some 900 units "stay home" because they could not be released
from their regular duty as a result of manpower issues.

Around here ERT members are not given special soft ID's until they actually are dispatched to a call.

They use the soft ID for the patrol area they're assigned to.

Not necessarily. Here in Toronto, 5F-901 is the car assigned to Queen's Park duty.
