We have those where I live (Southern Illinois), and I've never bothered to try to sniff the frequency. I assumed that they are interrogated by a unit in the city water department trucks, then respond. Probably like a RFID tag type thing. I'll take my 396 out and see if I can get Close Call to hit on anything.

Thanks, that would be great. Yeah I was just wondering how widely these were implemented in other places, or what kind of interference they caused or were susceptible to receiving.

The low power water meters I have seen are atually queried by a transmitter then it shoots back its data.... so it never really transmits in the blind... only to a query.... that is if these power meter things are working the same!
