Opto Suite Xplorer - Time Out Issues

Hi,

I've been trying to get the Optop Suite software from CBTI working on several operating systems without success. The app is failing with a time out when retrieving data from the Xplorer. I've tested this on WinXP, Win7, and Win10. Also on different laptops and PCs - using the Opto serial cable with the same result. I've been in contact with the developer - and he's been really helpful and honest. He believes this may be an issue with the OCX control from Microsoft and a fix may be a ways off.

I was wondering if this has been seen by anyone else? Or if there is a potential workaround?

Get a $15 diagnostic tool you put inline on the serial connector. It is a good help with old rs232 devices to see on LED's what are happening at the different control pins. If it's totally dead then it's some sort of software problem but if one LED indicate activity it usually are some sort of timing problem, or the attached device doesn't work as it should.
