Optoelectronics Xplorer CI-5 commands

Has anyone accessed a late nineties Xplorer (see photo) using CI-5?

Specifically, I want to read the current frequency being received I.e. Displayed on the LCD panel.

Optoelectronics tell me that this 'should' be possible, but they're not sure.........
