In my haste to recharge my scout the other day I accidently grabbed the wrong power adaptor. Now my scout doesnt respond at all. I grabbed an adaptor that had 15 volts instead of the 9-12 the scout wants. As I slid the connector on I saw a spark jump from the collar of the plug to the case. I quickly unplugged it, but I think the damage is done. I took the front of the scout off and smelled the acrid stink of fried electronics. Does anyone know if the scout has some sort of protection circuitry? I did a quick scan inside and I didn't see anything obviously destroyed, but it all seems to be SMT, which I know nothing about. While I had the radio open, I pulled the LCD off of the main board. I saw something that looked like a round fuse soldered underneath, but it was dark colored and I couldn't tell if it really was a fuse, or something else.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks BJ

This may be a diode put in place to guard against reverse polarity. If it is, with luck you might just replace it and go about your way. I wish you luck.
