Oradell FD (Bergen County) will be transitioning to NJICS come January, 2021. Dispatch will remain with the rest of the Tri-Boro South agencies on 154.160. They will also maintain their VHF analog fireground for on scene operations. Dispatch to units as well as unit to unit, however, will take place on a talk group on NJICS. It is unclear as to whether or not OPD will also make this move, though I do know there have been talks about it.

Any idea why NJICS was selected as opposed to the Bergen County trunked system?

The Bergen County trunked system "South Simulcast" transmits/receives from Alpine, Carlstadt, Fort Lee, Hackensack, and Paramus. Certainly those sites would provide better coverage in Oradell than either the NJICS "West Orange Simulcast" or their Alpine stand alone location.

According to the database Bergen County has 700Mhz frequency licenses at every existing 470 trunking site this includes Alpine, Carlstadt, Fort Lee, Franklin Lakes, Hackensack, Mahwah and Paramus, you forget Franklin Lakes. Individual counties and towns in New Jersey are obtaining new frequencies 700MHz licenses because 470MHz trunking is going to disappear some day sown the road. I bet you $50 Fort Lee will be on 700Mhz by this time next year The goal is in theory to get the entire state onto 700MHz for interoperability purposes

just when you think that for centralized responses/dispatch services using common channels, was coming into it own,.. adding another exclusive talk channel/band seems counter productive
so far no ID has shown up on the 700 alpine site - if or did they ever test it out cause nothing yet has been heard

Oradell FD (Resp/Ops) and PD will be moving to the Bergen County system in 2021. Extensive testing was done in 2019.

FD Dispatch will continue from Central and PD Dispatch will remain local.

Not sure on the TG's yet, could be something for Tri-Boro South FD's.

Makes much more sense than a move to NJICS. I suspect New Milford and River Edge may follow along, especially since New Milford PD is operating on a T-Band UHF repeater (like Oradell PD is).

There's NOT going to be a "Bergen County Trunked System", or ANY county trunked, in a few years. They'll have NJICS sites around the different counties That was the plan when the NJICS system first came online. Having a NJICS site in Alpine and adding 700MHz frequencies to Carlstadt, Fort Lee and Mahwah (among others) Same goes with literally ANY municipality that gets 700MHz frequencies

What the heck are you talking about? The Bergen County P25 system will be around for a long time to come, and they are also adding 700 MHz capability to that system in addition to the two existing T-Band cells. The Bergen system and NJICS system are completely separate entities.

So just to be clear, Oradell Fire will be switching to the Bergen County trunked system, not NJICS. It will be interesting to see if they go with UHF or 700 subscribers since they have a 700 cell up. Although not all sites are up and running in that cell last check from @RadioDitch

Both fire and police are switching in 2021. PD could be up and running as early as January, with FD later in Q1
