All fire and police operations are now on the P25 system. PD's are encrypted. FD's are in the clear.

You may hear some MEDCOM traffic on the old system as well as the P25, as all the hospitals are not yet equipped with P25 radios and MEDCOM talkgroups are being patched together. Once the hospitals are all equipped, the MEDCOM traffic will be totally on the P25. Orange County Schools are being transitioned to P25 now, but you may still hear some traffic on the old system for the same reason. If I had to make a WAG, I would suspect that either Orlando Utilities or Lynx would be the next major move.

You will continue to hear other county departments on the old system (and patched) until they are transitioned.

Talkgroup ID's remain the same from old to new for all users.

Thanks, I'm surprised the DB hasn't been updated... I'll submit.

OUC appears to have moved over, their radio ID format is consistent with the P25 system instead of being patched.

Fire 3,4,5,6,7, and 8 are still being simulcast over the analog system because Osceola and Seminole counties do not have their radios programmed yet for the OC digital system (except for SCFD R65, which may have an OC radio on board because their first due is in both Orange and Seminole County because of the arrangement made several years ago with OCFR for a joint coverage area around UCF). They probably won't be until those radios get reprogrammed for their respective upcoming P25 systems.

OUC was using Astro on the old system which may explain why the IDs look that way. To the best of my knowledge, they haven't gone to P25 yet.

Update--OUC has, in fact, moved as of last week.

Does Orlando Fire operate on the same channels as Orange County Fire ? Also, I've had my GRE scanner programed by somebody else. I haven't any idea how to do it. I'm heading down there and would like to listen. Thank you if you can help me out.

I am down here now and last night heard comms on 6096 and it sounded like helicopter assisting ground units searching for a suspect hopping fences and all.

6096 is listed under
Orange County Sheriff Mutual Aid/Interoperability Talkgroups

Who is still using this system?

I have a br330 and not sure exactly who to program in..

Thanks

Dave

On a semi-related note, what is the difference between OCFR "Medics" and "Rescues"? They both appear to be ambulances and I figured out what "EMS" units are.

OCFR Medic and Rescue units are similar except that the medic units run from 9 AM to 9 PM and have a civillian Paramedic and a firefighter/EMT or firefighter/Paramedic on board.

OCFR Rescue units run for a whole 24 hour shift (from 8 AM to 8 AM) and have one firefighter/EMT and one firefighter/Paramedic or two firefighter/Paramedic on board.

Both provide EMS transport for OCFR service areas.
