I am in a fairly marginal area to Rx the OC (Florida) system (Orange County Trunking System, Orlando, Florida - Scanner Frequencies) - but I left DSD+ running last night and did find a few new things.

Keep in mind that I do not routinely monitor this system - I am about 50 miles away from their simulcast site and can't hear any of the other sub-sites. The Orlando City (3.1 system is buried in the noise at my QTH thanks to the Brevard analog EDACS system splattering all over their control channel. here' s a pic - the splatter is 853.900 coming up and nuking about 30khz of bw (thanks Harris/Brevard)
84573

(that red line is the orlando 3.1 site of the orange county system being obliterated by the EDACS analog carrier)

anyway, i came up with a few hits that are not in the database... just wanted to pass these along. All were copied from the Prime / Simulcast site.

112 (OC Govt?)
1612 (Orlando Utilities?)
20042 (Orlando PD?)
20045 (Orlando PD?)
20059 (Orlando PD?)
21872 ?

Can't speak of the Govt/Utilities/21872, but the 200XX for the PD, fall withing the ranges of the talk groups. However, since they are full time encrypted, hard to tell...

for those of you who have been around orlando for a while...back to the analog smartnet/smartzone system..... you might find this a bit funny. Look at the KEY ID they are using...
Not sure what KeyID stands for. Is it for each radio that on that system like 1f36 1f34 etc?

it has to do with the encryption key, its not the actual key though which is unknown but yes nice reference to the old system

Okay thanks. I didn't think the DSDPlus would show the actual key. This is off the topic for one county use dmr "e" Disp clear units "E"

1F36 is the old system ID before OC went to P25 and it became 46C The key ID is used by the system admins to control / track encryption keys... as stated above, it's not the actual crypto key.

Here is my current Unknown TG list for Orange County (attached as a Txt file)

I left in a few TGs that have - i'll call them "tentative" IDs -- US Marshals and DEA... just as a data point.

I processed a dB update today on 46C with some clarifications and better alpha descriptions on some of the TGs.

might be worthwhile to re-download once the various manufacturers refresh their data.

Hello-

I moved here about a decade ago and my Pro97 was fantastic - with the changes it looks like the SDS100 is the best buy with the 496 the close second. Understanding that, I have a question: Is it worth scanning in Orange County anymore? Being as you can't listen to the encrypted transmissions, how much activity do you get on a day-to-day session?

Thanks!

I usually listen to OCFR a lot (I am biased though as I worked for them) they are a Class1 as is Orlando, Both Departments are very busy, OCFR runs as of 2018 350 calls a day and is probably closer to 400 now, mostly EMS but you get some good Rescues and Fires as well. Orlando is pretty busy too, as is Seminole County.

Depending on where you are in the county the SDS Series or Unication will be the best bet as far as listening, if you are in the City Simulcast Distortion can be real Bad ( I Used to live near the Lake Como area and it sucked)

as a side note I started my career in the early 90's and worked For RuralMetro first (AMT at the time) which is now AMR, and later in the early 2000's moved to OCFR before i retired, even worked the Kissimmee Tornado outbreak in March 1998, dispatched 25 ambulances in one go on that one

something really odd just happened....

please take this post with a grain of salt -- things change, programs go wonky sometimes, etc.

BUT.

From what I can tell, the Disney / Reedy Creek Improvement District system

is off the air.

it's now broadcasting as "Site 2.1" of the Orange County 46C system. I am seeing Disney TGs on this site.

I would like to hear from others if they are seeing the same thing I am. it appears that at least some of the (new) freqs are covered under this license : ULS License - Business, 806-821/851-866 MHz, Trunked License - WRHV930 - REEDY CREEK IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT - Frequencies Summary (fcc.gov)

and...

just as quickly as it was there - it's gone.

as of this morning, the above "new" 46C Site AND the 287 Reedy Creek system are not being heard at my QTH. I am not going to call them "off the air" because I am 50 odd miles from the Disney area. Perhaps they are still testing (??) - but... some thoughts.

Adding the Reedy Creek system to the Orange County system is probably a really good idea. Gives the OC people much better coverage down in that direction and greatly improves mutual aid/interop between Reedy Creek and OC LE/Fire/EMS.

Here is the DSD+ data from the run this morning - note that these are all Disney/Reedy Creek TGs:

I’ve been curious if there was at one point a grander plan for Central Florida:

RFSS-1 = Orange Co Government
RFSS-2 = Reedy Creek
RFSS-3 = City of Orlando
RFSS-4 = Polk/Hardee/Highlands Co Government (but now Apopka)
RFSS-5 = ? (Possibly originally Osceola)
RFSS-6 = Seminole Co Government

evening status update - I can hear the new 2.1 site again this evening (currently CC still on 857.2625) - so the problems earlier where I could no longer hear the system is most certainly due to the band going up/down during the day and my distance from the Disney area.

Looks to me like this is a permanent change, but will be waiting for at least one other person to confirm before I submit an update to the database.

According to DSDPlus, site 1.1 is showing site 2.1 as networked with the same control channel as you had earlier. Change does appear to be permanent.
