The word on the street is that Orange County EMS is deploying a new "radio plan" that is suppossed to go into effect once everyone has switched to narrowband. I've been told a few things and was wondering if anyone could confirm or deny any of the whispers

-The goal is to make something analogous to the OC Fire 16 channel UHF plan
-The nomenclature for a few channels is changing
-There are going to be new channels added

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be very much appreciated!

What was discussed at the meeting held at the 911 center in March about the county's narrowbanding plans was basically a standardazation of the radio channel names. No more 718 Beacon, all the 718 towers are now EMS Response Beacon, Grahm, Arden, etc. It also included standardized names for 155.220 and 155.280 tac channels as well as Vtac and Vmed channels. I know the county was looking to add another repeaterized channel for EMS but as far as I know that's is on hold due to problems with the frequency they were trying to obtain.
