Craig: I enjoy your feed. I was listening to it from EasyStream. Actually got the program to work and yours was the first feed I tried.
Question though....Does it feed the other cells such as the South one? I can't get those very well here but I monitor Countywide on my scanner since it comes in very good.

This is the Countywide cell only, this is the only one I can get here in Corona.

Great

Wow...quality is as good as being there!

I have a question...I have tried mulitple times to program my scanner for OCFA and individual departments, but seem to get nothing when traveling up and down I5. Do I need to program North, Metro and South separately or will countywide work with all talk groups?
I have a BC 246T.

Like Mick said, with the exception of SA,LB and CM, all fire is dispatched on the countywide cell. When they are dispatched they are given a Tac TG to switch to which may be on any county site depending on their location and site affiliation.

OCFA trunking question...

The type of system that Radio Reference says Orange County Fire Authority uses, is Motorola Type 2 Smartzone.
My scanner (BC246T) software (ARC 246) shows the selection list:
Type 2 800 MHz standard
Type 2 800 MHz splinter
Type 2 900 MHz
Type 2 VHF
Type 2 UHF

All I wanna know for now is which "system type" to select. But once I know that then I am sure the regular newbie questions will follow. I am trying hard to noodle this out on my own so I can learn it, but talk about brain overload! Sheesh!

Thanks,

Hello. Use "Standard" to receive the TRS.

scan oc

Craig, again thanks for doin this. I do understand the coverage of the cells in cccs however the question I sent to you in my email was that sometimes I hear NB/HB fire dispatched on my scanner at home and then i dont, there is a delay from what I hear on your site however they are both on the CW cell so I should allways get them on my scanner at home. When programing my scanner at home do I need any fleet maping or is plain mot type II the way to go. Im in sta 44/84 area. And for anyone that went through what I had to to program my scanner here's a tip.

From the radio ref page with the cells listed put the cells in diffrent banks, but add the freq
from countywide also, then put the tg's for the area re:
bank one...... south cell cm,sa fire 720,2224 and all the tac freq
bank two...... north cell gg/ana/ect tg for them and the tg for thier tac's but add the countywide freq alsowithout the ocfd tags so you will get dispatch for gg/ana ect

this way you can seperate county fire dispatch and tacs from the cities

your pal golfnuut@ca.rr.com

Actually, that's not entirely true. In OC's case, site affiliation is by talkgroup and not geographical location. The only exception to this may be in the Laguna area, but other than that, 2-F, for example, will always be on the Countywide cell, 2-N is always on the North cell. Why would a radio affiliate with the North cell on 2-F when it's under the Countywide cell's coverage? Imagine how badly flooded the Countywide cell would get since most users are in range of that cell!
I use OC radios from time to time and if you switch to a TG assigned to a cell that is out of range (while I'm still in range of the Countywide cell), the display flashes "out of range" and you get an annoying tone on the radio and it won't affiliate that TG with the countywide cell.

Hope that makes sense,
Mark

@AnaheimD2: Try using VLC Player ... it will play stuff much better than WMP. Another solution is to install the FREE ProScan client and connect that way -- it's better since it gives alpha tags and is real-time. Good luck!
