Orange County Emergency Communications ("Central") just actived a new repeater on Schunnemunk Mountain for the Police MRD Dispatch channel 155.850R PL 107.2. This is in addition to the Beacon, Goshen and Mt. Peter sites.
This site provides excellent coverage for the Orange County area, especially the areas dispatched by "Central" and was recommended many years ago.
A PL search on the input frequency indicates many units in the field are still using the other towers to talk to "Central." However, "Central" stayed on Schunnemunk for the most part answering them. I won't get into how the system is set up incorrectly so the dispatchers don't know what tower a unit is calling on, but look for more units to have their radios reprogrammed and tuned to the Schunnemunk site.
For those of us on the scanner side of things, expect to hear alot more traffic on this frequency due to the increased elevation.
