County Supervisor Chris Norby was outraged at the large security presence rolled out at the Jan. 13 supervisors meeting by the Sheriff’s Department during a discussion about concealed weapons permits.
Today, he’s fuming after getting what he described as “a very odd and disturbing call from the Sheriff.”
Apparently, Sheriff Sandra Hutchens called to let Norby know that during the meeting, as a large contingent of deputies kept watch over activists and others, a deputy working a camera that monitors the boardroom started focusing on the supervisors desks. And panned over their notes. “For a minute, it focused on your personal papers on the dais,” is the message Hutchens delivered, Norby said.
Because someone has put in a public records request for tapes of the meeting, Hutchens was warning Norby that his desk materials and notes at the meeting would be in public soon.
“I wasn’t surprised,” Norbys said about the incident. ”Her department had set a tone that was not justified.”

Give the secret police the power to encrypt even the most routine boring calls for service and eventually the GESTAPO will crave more power. Chris Norby helped to create this monster in Orange county. Now it bites him in the fanny. No other California sheriff is this paranoid. Neither is the CHP or even the feds.
