I am using a BCD436HP scanner monitoring Jefferson (Beaumont SETRRS) and Orange county. I downloaded and installed the scanner using Sentinel. While listening to the Orange county there are some talkgroups ids that are not listed in the Orange DB (ie. 21744, 21776, 21904, etc...) that are often transmitting. Question is why can I monitor some of the transmissions and at times it goes digital. It doesn't appear to be encrypted just goes digital while at times its analog. Is this a mixed mode system and a setting that needs to be changed on my scanner to where I can hear the transmission 100% of the time.

I see the same id's are on the Beaumont SETRRS system and if I recall I can hear those all the time without them going digital. Apparently these same id's are linked.

Orange County is actually part of the Jefferson County system, just with a different system ID. Functionally it operates as a Smartzone Omnilink system. The new 700 P25 system also operates on the same core, so talkgroups could possibly appear on any or all three systems.

Motorola systems cannot switch between analog and digital on the same TGID without system-level intervention. If you hear P25 on a talkgroup, it will always be P25. IIRC all of the TGIDs in the 2xxxx range on the Jefferson County system are P25.
