Connect it to your dash (instrument panel) lights, That's so that when you need to turn on the headlights, the scanner's display will dim as well.

Thanks. I believe I'll just leave it unhooked. The display is dim enough as it is.

Over the years, I've installed probably a dozen or so scanners in vehicles and never used that feature.
