To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Orbacom/Resource programing

Yes. I have extensive experience programming the Resource soft console as well as the CPP and cards for the TDM-150 series console system. If you have one, god help you......

So does anyone know how to change a TX/RX module from a T4/R4 to a T8/R8. I have changed the programming on the LIC and the PIC but cannot seem to get it to change channels at all.

Is this an old style console with the physical button/switch/LED modules in trays, or is this a CRT System?

Been long time, and I never had to do very much, but I'm thinking (have to do more research, tho) that you program the LIC, and then you program the 'virtual trays & modules' and they get (grabbing at concepts here) 'compiled' or 'linked' to each other, then the console has to load the new program file.

I've got some programming documentation in e-format, but Orbacom's programming system is NOT intuitive, and also very dangerous. It's easy to go send your console to stupid-land.....

Its the TDM console with touchscreen and XP pc. I have tried doing all the module training. The module on the PC shos 8TX/RX and the LIC has 8TX/RX but nothing works. If I go to 4TX/RX all is fine. I was thinking maybe there is a firmware change that added 8 ?

Im still tugging around with it....

Hmmm, sounds like you're a lot further along than I ever was with TDM programming.

Good luck.

Let start with some advanced basics. Is this a TDM150 or T5 CPP system?
Can you obtain the firmware revisions of all cards either from the label on the chip (TDM150) or from the T5 Manager software (T5) and IM them to me. This will allow me to check for a firmware mismatch which could cause all kinds of crazy functionality or non functionality as it were. Yes if you have another card in the system that you arent even using for this function that is an un-approved firmware rev it can cause issues like this. Also what revision of Resource are you running.

Second thing to look at in either system. Check the programming on the button for your channel select in the resource. Is it programmed correctly at the PIC options in a TDM150 or in the Module section of the T5 Manager? If in the T5 Manager did you delete that module from all positions and then re-add it after making the change and then upload all the PICs.

Lastly look at the LIC programming and see if all of the tones that you are wanting to use have been entered in the right locations. Then check for them with a good TIMS set that will decode the keying sequence. They are out there but are a few bucks. Also look at the tone sequence programming while you are in there. There are timing options for the channel select tones in both the TDM150 and T5. (In the T5 this is called Function Tone Timing on the LIC and should be set to 0.4 seconds for a standard tone sequence)

Just a few things to check from a guy thats worked with a few (80+ T5 and 10 TDMs) of these systems.

If its a TDM good luck with the binary programming and count carefully, I never could get used to that interface.

By any chance do you have an old T5 manual?

I'm looking for information on the A1709238 Motorola SpectraTAC Interface Board.

Thanks very much.

Greg -

email me, kb4mdz at earthlink.net. I have a e-copy of the TDM series service manual; lists in it a section for that number as
TDM-AUX/V Voter Line Terminator;

11 & something megabytes of manual.
