The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I never had any success period with the Uniden product line in South Florida (Metro Dade) for monitoring the Harris LSM P25 Simulcast system. ( even borrowed and tested the new Uniden line with no success)

I saw that one vendor had the product available and they shipped right away after I paid and for a real good price.

I will be reviewing it once it arrives. Anyone here tried one of the new Unidens and were unable to monitor but got a Unication G4/G5 pager and monitored with success?

Do the radios come with a programming software/cable? how long to the batteries last?

Where can I download the manual?

Found the software unication sent it via email, the manual is the help system in the software. The programming is pretty idiot proof so by the time the radio arrives saturday i will have the codeplug ready.

Nice that it uses bogstandard usb to program. One less cable to store way, in my growing pile of programming cables.

I will compare the audio to my work harris radio.

Works like a champ on Miami-Dade P25. You will laugh when you hear the difference between using the G5 vs Uniden or Whistler. I also use it on Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Boynton Beach and West Palm to name a few. You will not be disappointed. Also new BETA software and firmware is out.

I've had my G5 about 3 weeks, and would highly recommend it for the Columbus Ohio area. Where my Uniden and GRE/ Radio Shack scanners would drop transmissions, the G5 does not have that problem. I work downtown Columbus, and could barely get the scanners to receive the Columbus city Marcs system. The G5 has no problems receiving it.

I travel to Wheeling, WV occasionally, and recently tested it on the WVSIRN UHF system with similar results. Scanner reception was very sporadic, where the G5 received it perfectly.

For those of you in South Florida thinking about getting one I'll say this...I was listening to the Miami-Dade P25 from within the County all the way up the Turnpike to the Sawgrass just shy south of the Palm Beach County line. This is inside the car with the supplied stubby antenna on a vent clip mount. If you can do that with a Uniden or Whistler with an external antenna mobile without suffering from LSM distortion, I'd like to hear it.
