Hi all -

I know I have brought this suggestion arround for a few times.. but would reallly like to see if there is an insterest or a way we could some type of a state map of where we have our gear posted in California, how many machines are dedicateed (Computers, Scanners, etc)

Might work out well for people getting into the hobby and let them know what is out there, and what is notl I admit I do most of our monitoring for the southern california area where I grew up (and one day hope to return).

It would also be nice to see if there is a way we could share information regarding the problems with signal crosstalk, etc. My new house is much more clear for the dignals now, but I still have a bunch of moving and tweeking to get thing going corrrectly.

I would like to offer any help I can give to anyone who is looking to put a stream up. Most of what I have running (of the 5 active streams) are currently on a OLD P-2 400mhz running debian.

I have another donated unit that I will be deploying near the Santa Clara Police Station this year.

I am also hearing that they listeners woud like to have some CHP Exclusive channels - will be working on that. I may also put some of the numbers stations streeming on my "potluck" feed..

Anyone interested in doing a coordinated (slowly) project to deliver the audio to the masses?

I think a good 3 sticky Northern CA areas / Central CA Areas / Southern CA Areas

and a follow up area describing what fun needs to be done to avoid intermod/etc and antenna's you have had the best results.

I would not mind helping with the hosting, but think we should post / keep our findings on this page/board to assist other people. From my experience - I would love a increase in usership for my 2 happy servers (OK all of the audio is going to the one P2 box shortly - it just needs a fan.

I really think that when we show people how easy this can be we would be able to listen to some pretty cool stuff and support the hobby a little more.

My current "Shack" runs about 4 hand-held Uniden boxes (2 trunking capable) A Pro-2006, and a couple of more current rigs.. Pics will be coming soon to my site when it's all going well..

Just a thought should anyone be interested in working on this.. would be great stuff to add to the RR Database
