There is a blurb on the database which I am not sure its accurate.

It states that the ORION and NWIN (or whatever its called this month) are to be two seperate systems and "split" even though they have the same ID.

Motorola controllers are imprinted with unique System ID's and typically are not duplicated unless there is a failure. This was especially true back in the day with hard firmware but of course anything can be done today.

My guess based at looking at the system as I know it, is that it is being controlled from the same system controller. Anyone have actual real information on that comment from a couple of years ago?

Coming from the system side years back, it wouldn't make since to have the same ID on two different systems. Even as recent as 3ish years ago when we had to install a temporary second zone (prior to P25 P1 coming out) we had to grab a second controller and it came with its own ID (and above is what was explaned to us - each controller from the factory will have its own unique ID - this is why on some large systems you will see sequencial and out of order ID's...they just grab the ones out of inventory when they do the prebuild in IL).

That's an interesting observation. Maybe someone "in the know" can shed some light on this.

The statement on RR is accurate. There is no connection between the two systems.

The State system has two controllers connected for DSR, one in Lincoln and the other out west. The "ORION" system controller is located in Omaha.

The use of a common ID was pre-planned so that any possible future interconnection of the systems could be accomplished without reprogramming the entire fleet of users.

No such interconnection or merging of systems is planned at this time.
