If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

A stupid question.. as usual *lol*

I´ve got an Orion 403-440Mhz version.
With help of the old DOS version of EDACS3 i can get the radio out of band and im having no problem to lock on to frequencies above 445.
But there seem to be no way to program out of band frequencies using Programmer software.

Now to the question. Is there any way to reflash or somehow change the bandsplit information in the radio to get the programmer software to accept it as a high band radio instead? Or even better is there any way to hexedit any file from the Programmer software so that it would ignore the out of band frequencies or at least alter the band split data so that it will accept up to 450Mhz or something?
Would be really greatful for any help.

You got farther than I could.

I was able to edit the software to take the frequencies, but after trying to download to the radio, it would get halfway and waould complain about the OOB frequencies.

My radio (a VHF 136-153) refuses to go OOB.

There is a resister somewhere on the board that will change the split of the radio, but I have no idea where it is.

Check radio.the161.net

As far as Programmer, I couldn't find anthing to hex edit. It looked like it was encrypted.

Good luck. As for me, I'm getting rid of my Orion - SOON.
