• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a question about scanning on the orion
I have some conventional channels id like to scan.
When i dont have the mic hooked up the radio scans fine and the scan light stays on
But when i hook the mic up the scan light blinks and the unit will not scan.
What setting is not set rite for this to happen?

Yes it is checked. Should i uncheck it?
Will that make it stop blinking at me when the mic is hooked up?

Taa daaaa. Fixed it:)
I have another question now... With the SC4 file.. since it jumps every thing up 10 i cant program in any of the low freqs can i? Like something thats 411.0000 it wont let me do it as 401.0000
So with anything under 413 wont work?

And how do i set up a dual radio? Once i have the dual radio cable? So i can be running a convention 403-440 and a 800 edacs from one control head

And why not add this here too why im thinking about it. How do i get the audio from the radio to get switched over to the pa speaker... so when im out of the car i can hear the transmissions thru the pa speaker?

I have a ss2000 with the correct cable for it, i just need the P4 control head cable to be able to use it.. i have the extended option cable thou. So once i get that would that need to be used?

correct

if you have a dual radio cable you have to setup a master and a slave radio, you do this in Network Options under the multiple radio section... program a button on your head for RAD to select between radios, or you can program a RAD1 button and a RAD2 button to select a specific radio...

finally make sure they have the same firmware revision also to avoid issues...

make sure the jumper in the head is set to allow the audio to go to the SS2000... i dont remember off the top of my head where it goes...

as far as the programming, go into external speaker options.... enable external speaker, should be active low if i remember correctly... also if you want PA, enable it, active low, output 7

Scan with CG....check this only if you have the correct ctcss on the receive for that channel

Sounds like you have an incorect CTCSS on the receive of that channel and when you start scanning, It ignores that setting and scans the channels with CSQ.

Sounds like Lid is correct, for whatever reason, the channel guard is incorrect. If you do not know what the correct one is, blank out the RX CG for that channel. It will rx everything on that channel.
