    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anybody know if there is any way to get an Orion to take splinter frequencies that are 2.5 khz spaced (such as 158.7675)? My current Orion isn't narrow capable but before I go and buy a switchable version, I need to confirm this.

In my R03 of ProGrammer, it won't let me enter TX or RX splinter frequencies.

If the answer is no, what GE/Ericsson gear are we left with that will do these splinter freqs? There isn't much...at least not much that isn't priced stupidly.

I imagine that you could make an SC4 file to increase the frequency by a certain amount during write, but you'd have to put EVERY frequency in with that certain amount, because during write, every frequency will be changed. The kicker would be to find the correct frequency table and to find an offset that would work with every frequency that you wish to program.

I programmed the closest 'standard' split channel in, and RX works fine.. TX kinda works, as I'm tx wideband. (even though my radio is NB capable)

I actually did that with an MDX once before. Better than nothing I guess. I was just curious if an Orion would do them the right way.

Just in case anybody is wondering, I got my Orion to take 158.7675 and a couple other splinter frequencies with no special hacks or mods. I believe I have an extended option Orion, but it took them. So don't completely write off the Orion for splinter channels.
