ORLANDO, Fla. -- Five municipal fire departments in Seminole County have received a federal grant of more than $775,000 to help purchase radio equipment.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant will allow the departments to replace mobile and portable radios, as well as radios in the fire stations, with new equipment in advance of a federally mandated switch to digital radio systems, Casselberry fire Chief Don Harkins said.
