This morning, Osage County Commissioners signed a contract with Motorola for a replacement radio system, joining the KSICS system. This includes 3 new sites and adding 2 channels at each Williamsburg & Appanoose sites in Franklin County for eastern county coverage. All public safety, county road & bridge, and most of the school districts are joining in as well.

Are they having issues with DMR conventional system that was installed not long ago? Upgrading to KSICS makes sense for interoperability. With DMR you're pretty much on an island if every other surrounding county is P25.

Some coverage issues, and the TRBO system (that law enforcement is using) is coming up on 7-8 years old I believe. The 6550's are EOL as are the XPR8400 repeaters. With Coffey and now Lyon on the KSICS system, there are no longer any agencies on UHF around the county. As for fire and EMS, they are still using R1225 repeaters which are around 20 years old. Several of the FD's are using 20-year-old radios as well.
