OSP Aircraft (District 6)

Hey,

Do the OSP speed enforcement aircraft use MARCS or the old VHF-Low frequencies? If so, what frequencies are they? I saw a post from someone that said they heard an OSP craft using VHF-Low.

District 6 uses MARCS. They no longer use any other bands. MARCS only.

Thank you. I was just wondering if I should re-program the vhf-low freqs, but I don't need to. O well.

Just an FYI in case you travel.

Post 6 (Wapak) is using MARCS, but the planes seem to use the low band TAC channels when they work the Post 6 units. Occasionally I've heard the planes use the P06TAC TG on MARCS so it seems to be a mixed bag.

Post 2 (Lima) hasn't switched to MARCS yet so the planes use the low band TAC channels here in Lima.

Just if anyone monitors the VHF-LOW bands, today, I've been hearing OSP planes on the TAC channel 42.56. I can only hear the plane, not the cruiser. So it must some other district.

I caught OSP aircraft on 45.02 when monitoring the turnpike (the turnpike isnt on MARCS).

THis weekend I caught OSP planes (plane 12) using the Post 67 MARCS channel (sometimes they use the TAC channel for that Post).

If they are working in conjunction with a local dept not on MARCS, they might use 155.37 (mutual aid/OSP calling intercity) or the LEERN primary or secondary freq.

Thanks. I will actually be heading up the turnpike in a few weeks, I will remember to monitor the Low bands.
