I'm up in Akron and the two control channels in my MARCS bank that I pick up OSP post 76 on are: (I am using a Pro-96)

868.6 and 868.8 (these are the 2 summit county sites I think)

Hope that helps

There are two repeater locations for Summit Co one is in Richfield, and the other in Nimisila.
Richfield 866.98750/867.93750/868.3500/868.60000(control)
Nimisila 866.4000/867.4750/868.8000(control)
Canton 866.6125/867.0750/867.8000(control)
Massillon 866.4250/867.275/867.8375(control)

I wasn't sure if you knew, but Stark and Summit are joined together, and they are dispatched out of Massillon. Sometimes they may have all operations on Stark's channel as well.

Summit Patrol...16704
Summit TAC.....16720
Stark Patrol......17216
Stark TAC........17232
76 LEERN.........26784
76 LEERN B......26800

Let me know if this helps.

Anyone in the N. Canton area or near the Stark/Summit line? What site would I listen to for this particular area, because I know I'm near Nimisila, but it doesn't come in very well here. Canton is about the same, any ideas?

What type of DIGITAL scanner do you have? Ohio MARCS is digital. If it is Radio Shack, program ALL of the control channels for Summit, Stark, Wayne...everyone around. If it is Uniden, you'll have to program-in all the freqs. in the system, not only the control channels. I get OSP all the way from Akron to Cincy. with the PRO 96 using CC only.

From N. Canton you should get Stark Sheriff, Summit/Akron, Canton, Ohio MARCS (all ore APCO 25 digital) as well as Green/Springfield/Uniontown on an analog trunked system.

That is info that I already know and already have. In this particular area, the sites for Canton, Massillon, Nimisila, and Richfield(MARCS) does not come in very good. What I was asking, if there was another site near the Stark/Summit line that I would be able to recieve that may come in better than those that I have stated.
BTW, I'm using the Pro-96 w/ the 800mhz antenna from RadioShack.

Also, I am using the cc's only in my radio along with the conventional in between. Can you help clear this up for me? I was wondering, does the 96 stop on the first cc that it recieves? Or does it go to the one with the best signal? Sometimes while here at work I'll listen to Canton's cc, and Nimisila's cc. If Canton doesn't come in, it will stop on Nimisila. Now when I drive home and go through Canton, will it stop on Canton because of the stronger signal, or will it just go to the first one I have programed?

DON'T put CC's of neighboring systems in the same bank. The scanner stops and holds on the FIRST CC...not strongest. You may be hoping to hear OSP, but won't if the scanner is locked in on Canton. Put MARCS in a separate bank as there are so many CC's and you're putting in all the CC's from say Northern Ohio. I have all the CC's for North and Central Oh in one bank and from Akron hear Ashtabula, Lake, Medina, etc. Try putting conventional freqs. in a bank dedicated to conventional transmissions. They are a pain when mixed in with a trunked system. As your 96 has 10 banks, you should have room to put one trunked system in a bank. I have Columbus and Barberton in one bank, but the 120 miles in distance keeps it from being a problem. Also have Bath/Copley/Fairlawn sharing a bank with Delaware, Oh. with no problems because of the distance. Rule 1 for monitoring trunked systems: Do not put neighboring systems in the same bank, because you'll only hear the system who's CC is locked-in.

BTW Mark, do you happen to know where the site is for Nimisila? I looked at the Map Locations on the website and it wasn't marked in Summit at all, just Mahoning.

I can hear other counties on Canton's site, I believe Medina, and Wayne so far. If I have Canton's site (cc), will I be able to hear Cleveland's post as well? I believe they are post 18.
Thanks

With the Summit/Stark Control Channels entered, I get Summit, Medina, Ashland, Lake, Wayne and many more, but not on a regular basis. I think it depends which radios are "affiliated" with which system. Like the Akron/Summit County System. Sometime you hear Akron Police on the county side, sometime not. Depends if there are radios "affiliated" with the other system.

I have heard Cuyahoga County while monitoring the Stark/Summit CC's, but not always.

MARCS is really amazing with its interoperability.

Yup, I agree. I've been hearin' Medina, OSP on Canton's site Geauga and Wayne as well. Closest to Canton, which site would I be able to hear post 18, would you know?

There is no OSP Patrol for Cuyahoga County (Post 18). OSP may be called in for accident investigations involving local law enforcement vehicles, etc...

That's what I figured. About the database, if I click on the site number, and look at the "additional site info" are those the other sites that the particular site can be heard on, or is that the other sites that are heard on the particular site? Hope I didn't confuse ya'll by sayin' that...

You have the OSP posts from the surrounding counties, there's a womens pre-release center in Cleveland, ODNR, there's plenty to listen to just no OSP patrol
