For the 2nd evening in a row, 1800 +/-, an Osprey has flown close to me heading south down the Potomac.

Do they use any particular freqs I can listen for ?

I can't believe how loud these things are. When I last saw him the rotors looked like they were starting to tilt back ?

Since we don't know from what base the Osprey is flying, it's going to take a little detective work. I'd start with Andrews, Reagan and/or Dulles' UHF milair frequencies, then shift to the ZDC ARTCC UHF freqs. With those loud rotors, it should be a snap to figure out the callsign - just listen carefully for the noise in the background.

We have all those freqs defined in our wiki and in the database Ignore the FAA listed freqs, which are rather dated....73s Mike

I spotted a few old freqs there - an obvious ripoff of some previous lists. What's wrong with the links I gave you? Just click on the blue text and you'll be taken there. With the database link, scroll past the FAA data dump and you'll see what you need.

Not a thing. I already had them as I've been putting together mil-air freqs from the sticky & wiki for last few weeks.

I was hoping someone had freqs from the Osprey itself since it did alot of testing & flying in this area. I know some guys at Quantico & I've left msg's for them to call me. I will at least know if these flights are coming or going there.

The craft has such a strange history & is so different it will be fun to get some snags of them.

I thought they were flying at Patuxent.

By the way, I took a look at that freq list you linked to and it's out of date by many years.

Yeah Tin I've already mentioned that....

Check TinEar's list - he may have some Quantico freqs. I think the Hampton Roads page also has some Quantico stuff - let me take a look .... We also have a nice Wiki article on Pax River 73s Mike

Nothing on my list for Quantico other than Base Ops on 355.3.

Arrgg...nothing on Quantico in a quick look at the Hampton Roads page...however, our Pax river wiki is quite complete, having been put together by an inside source.

It's because they are sending a deployment to Iraq. They are in & out'a Quantico.

Apparently there are some stars that are real nervous about them going. Afraid it may make things worse if there are any "mishaps". They will be up & flying more than normal to get more flying hours & whatnot. They are also practicing night manuvers.

Sounds like they will be on the radio more than usual.

Guys,

Also keep in mind that the MV-22s operate into Ft. Belvoir/Davison AAF quite regularly; in 2005-2006 I noted six visits myself, but who knows how many more there actually were and currently are?

See the Davison AAF Wiki for futher info on frequencies, etc.:

Best regards,

Tony

Both Quantico & Ft Belvoir are just across from me. I'm going down to the river tomorrow & see if I can't see something with glass's. If they are out there they sure won't be hard to see that's for sure. May even be able to see them doing tests or something.

And, if you do, please, please get the tail (BuNo) numbers. It would be a great service to those of us anal retentive enough to keep track of such stuff.

Well I picked the hottest day of the year to go Osprey hunting. What a day !

I saw alot of helo's & I saw alot of planes but I did not see any half & half setups.

I brought back a Pro-2052 & have begun entering freqs in hope of hearing more on the subject.

The 996t is just to slow for alot of conventional freq scanning.

That's what I've been saying but all I usually get are arguments. When you actually put it to work like you had to do today is when you learn that.

Sorry though that you didn't get to see the funny aircraft.
