OSWEGO, N.Y. — Oswego County will roll out its new E-911 radio communication system Monday — earlier than originally anticipated -- and Madison County will start operating its improved system that same day for its law enforcement, probation and highway personnel.

I've heard this is going into effect and I'm wondering... why am I now receiving Madison county 911 on their vhf high frequency better all of the sudden?

I just noticed it yesterday while checking around on my scanner. I could rarely hear anything from home but now I'm getting constant, clear traffic. And no, there has been no change in any equipment I am using.

Jis sayin... seems kinda weird...

Anyone have any ideas or info on this?

I realize it's part of that new system but the traffic "clarity" has increased substantially on their current VHF high frequency.

Would they have installed the current high band antenna/system at a new site or different 800 tower site right before they switch over?

I wasn't replying to your question, I was advising others who might be reading this thread what system they were on, in case someone went looking for an "Oswego County" trunked system.

Your question is better asked in the NY forum where you'll get local feedback. This here thread is an announcement about the trunked system in the forum-wide Community Announcements and News section, not the best place to ask about the existing VHF system.

Woke up this morning and my scanner isn't working.
I have a Pro-106 scanner.Only thing that works is weather band.
Old Uniden analog trunk is working.

I live in Syracuse.Could this have something to do with the E-911 system starting today in Oswego County?
