I know this is way off-topic, but does anyone in the OKC area have a gauss meter I could rent/borrow/buy-you-lunch-for-you-to-use-it.

The wife has found a house she really wants to look at buying, BUT it is next to some large electric transmission lines.

I have read both sides of the "transmission lines cause cancer", but would just like to get an idea how many electrons are flying around out there.

I guess I could build a Faraday Cage around the house...

Thanks in advance for any replies

On a slightly more practical note, if those lines aren't well maintained, you could be looking at a seriously noisy environment, signal-wise. Take some radios over and check the location under various conditions: calm/windy, wet/dry, etc.
