Lately I have been hearing a lot of activity from other agencies on the ENCON Law Enforcement frequency 159.225 CTCSS 94.8. I live in the Adirondacks of northeastern New York. This would be ENON Region 5.

Over the winter I started hearing a lot of transmissions from Canadian speaking people on this frequency.

The past few weeks I have been hearing a lot of radio tests and transmissions from an agency with a dispatch that they refer to as “Central” and units referred to what sounds like “7B50”, “7B52” and other similar units. It may however be 7G50. When they transmit they will say “7B50 to Central on Whiteface”. They have also made mentions of state parks and the town of Waddington ( which I believe is near Massena).

I know that ENCON has a tower on Whiteface that they use quite often. The input frequency is 151.430 CTCSS 100.

Does anyone know who these agencies are?? I am really surprised that ENCON is allowing other agencies to use their repeater system.

The 7B units you are hearing are the NYS Park Police. Must be because the Thousand Islands Region does not have a dedicated Police freq they have gotten permission to use the EnCon repeaters? Yesterday I heard 7D10, 7D15 and 7D17 on the EnCon 159.465 repeater, always calling to "Central" and saying "on West Martinsburg".

I also replied to your NNY Scanning message on the Yahoo group.

Over the past year or so the Region 5 EnCon Headquarters in Ray Brook has been given the task of dispatching for all EnCon Police and Rangers in the North Country, pritty much everything North of the Mohawk River and East to Lake Ontario is run out of Ray Brook, with only one dispatcher on duty at a time. EnCon by far has one of the best covering radio systems in NYS.

That is, until they jump on the NYS Wireless system bandwagon...
