I have noticed when there is a major fire in Ottawa County, especially when multiple fire departments are involved, they will have everyone at the scene switch over to a fireground channel such as channel 8, channel 9, etc. At that point I can no longer hear any on-site communications even though I have all of the various Ottawa County Interop talkgroups & Ops talkgroups (as listed in R.R.) programmed into to my SDS200. I am guessing at some various possibilities for their fireground use including: (1.) They have switched over to a low powered 800 mhz simplex frequency. (2.) They have switched over to some National Interop/Mutual Aid frequency that isn’t specifically listed in R.R. for Ottawa County. (3.) They are using their older 155 mhz VHF radios for fire ground use. (4.) Other?

I would be curious if anyone knows the answer.
