Has anyone here monitored Ottawa marine radio frequencies? I did all day yesterday and heard nothing, (im located in the Glebe area,I could just be out of range).

Is there much traffic on the marine frequencies in the Ottawa area?

The CCG doesn't provide MCTS services in the Ottawa area, so there wouldn't be much in that respect. You'd likely hear some activity on the 6x channels for general marine activities. You might also keep an ear on 6 and 12 for "chit chat".

Being in the Glebe, you might hear activity near the Rideau Canal. Just the start of boat season. Should pick up through the summer.

BTW that is CH 68, used for pleasure craft, so also the marinas use it so possibly the busiest for Ottawa area. If they want to chat, they may choose any of the other channels to switch to after initial contact.
CH 16 is for emergency so you might also want to monitor that one.
If it is like the Seaway, different companies use different variety of the marine channels for their crews, so you might want to monitor them all for a while to find the crews of the tour boats. Keep a log and update the database :)
