Would anyone happen to know how I can program my SDR to hear what is happening in Ottawa? (i.e. control freq's or other required info?)

Get yourself a copy of Unitrunker v2. You will have to join their google group. Then find out what zone you are in 1,2,3 or 4. And enter the frequencies accordingly. I have a cross reference from here to determine frequency \ channel.

The backend recorder is called Trunk-Recorder GitHub - robotastic/trunk-recorder: Records calls from a Trunked Radio System (P25 & SmartNet) <--- Linux based
The front end WebUI GitHub - chuot/rdio-scanner: Rdio Scanner is an open source software that ingest and distribute audio files generated by various software-defined radio recorders. Its interface tries to reproduce the user experience of a real police scanner, while adding its own touch. <-- Any OS

And then RR.com has all the info for control channels. You can monitor P25, Smartnet, DMR

Thanks. I'm actually not using Unitrunker (couldn't get it setup properly), but using SDR Trunk and/or DSDplus.
I'm wanting to set this up but can you give me a hint what to look for in RR to find these same channels/freq.
I am all for doing my own homework, but I'm stumped and need a bit more of a hint.

Where are you and what do you want to listen to?

Hi. I'm trying to listen to Police/EMS from Ottawa (I'm located in Casselman so there's an issue of range and signal strength). I've been able to listen to some of the traffic using the data from RR, but only a small set. So, I'm looking for some hints as to go about this without Unitrunker (my computer is Windows 7, which isn't compatible with v2.

RE: UT on WIN7

One of my computers has WIN7 and Unitrunker VER 2.1.0.90 is running fine.

Yes, anything really interesting is ENC now.

3,250 hits on OPS SpecialOps! TG 3006
Not sure of the time frame, but possibly 24 hours perhaps less.
Would have been great listing except for ENC

I remember the good old days when one could listen to everything.
Was fun while it lasted.
