Everyone that thinks out of band transmissions (public service) is ok, that the FCC doesn't care needs to read the article in Happenings, August 2022 QST "FCC proposes record $34,000 fine for alleged interference and unauthorized transmissions during Idaho wildfire." Apparently best intentions do not natter to the FCC. As a retired Park Ranger, firefighter/EMT I have been in very few places where the cell phone would not gain access and a 2 meter HT would. As the old saying goes, "you have the freedom to choose the path you take, but not the consequences for having taken that path."
