Hi All,

There is a bill approaching the Senate floor that would allow for Amateur Radio Operators to have outside antennas even if you live in an area that has HOA restrictions. If you are not yet a ham, support the bill, get your license and then put up an outdoor scanner antenna to improve your reception!

This is especially important for Florida residents to express your support for H.R. 555 and S. 1534 as Senator Nelson blocked a version of this bill last year.

The ARRL has put together a link to e-mail Senators Nelson and Rubio (or your local senators if outside of FL). This takes less than 2 minutes to fill out.

Even better, here are Senator Bill Nelson's phone numbers.**Please call your local office AND the Washington D.C. office to express your support for this bill.

Please take time (even if it is only 2 minutes to fill out the form) to help other residents around the US that are in HOA restricted areas to put up antennas!

There's a thread going here about it: https://forums.radioreference.com/a...05-no-more-hoa-antenna-restrictions-soon.html

It doesn't negate the HOA rules, just says they need to try and accommodate amateur radio operators. The HOA rules still apply, it just urges them to be more flexible.

In other words, even if this does pass, no one should be placing their order for the 100 foot tower and beam antenna until you've got the HOA on board. It's not a free pass for amateurs to do whatever they want.

Of course it doesn't hurt to ask, so yeah, people should get their rep's to support this.

Here's a pretty good breakdown on the specifics:
https://www.rrmediagroup.com/News/Ne...s/newsID/15735

From the above article:
"The bill includes a provision to allow amateur radio operators to negotiate with individual homeowner associations to install antennas that conform to the community’s aesthetic interests. The provision would preserve association control over a community’s appearance and would enable expansion of amateur radio networks in areas that were previously off-limits to operators."
