I have four RS 25-1.3 grnd plane that fit perfect in my attic and work great using RG6U and LM400 , they receive the IL-Starcom 700-800 Digital system great along with VHF-UHF signals.....

Steve, I am not sure where you live, but Johnson Co. is on Braodcastify. (sp?) if you wanted to listen. Not a lot there down here in the sticks.
I'm in Dallas itself, central Oak Cliff. The terrain to my south and southwest rises till you get to Cedar Hill, then drops off rapidly again in the Midlothian vicinity going down Hwy 67. That puts the Johnson County sites below my 'horizon', and I don't get enough signal to decode on any of the scanners. I knew about Broadcastify, but I generally don't listen to it unless there is something 'big' (or interesting) going on in an area that I cannot monitor direct, whether that's someplace else here in North Central Texas, or in another state.

That same ridge line also hampers my reception for Grand Prairie and Arlington to my west. If my directional antenna experiment works, I may try one aimed westerly, and there is a slim possibility I could pick up that Johnson County site near Crowley, as well as also bringing GP & Arlington back to the party.

I just looked at that OmniX thing. Uhhh,,,that's a joke. No good design there. The unsuspecting may never realize that, but they well know that. That's called "deceptive marketing".Gain? How can that have gain? I don't believe their bogus "dBi" (look it up) figures. In what direction? The ground? The sky?

Snakeoil, I tell ya. Don't be duped! I could get a window screen to pick up stuff too, but that doesn't make it a good antenna.

I like to differ amigo just like many other happy users. In my case Omni-x replaced aged D130 with NO regrets. I am using 5D-FB 50 ohm Coax cable about 25m long with small pig tail. No it is not a snake oil stuff.

I have to agree that the Omni - X is not a snake oil antenna. I have had it up over two years now, side by side with a D3000 Diamond Discone and the Omni - X has just as good and in some cases on the higher bands like 700-800, better reception. For the 150 and 450 bands they are very close to each other and looking at the reception numbers in Proscan, couldn't see any difference. If u really look at the design, they are basically vertical dipoles for the 150, 450 and 800 bands. Its small, lightweight, and is not hard to conceal this antenna if need be.

I believe the intent of this thread was to let the OP know what outside antenna members "were actually using" along with their experience. Not sure comments about antennas someone has never used is beneficial here...
