Outside antenna for RS PRO-96

I still am trying to get more Arkansas State Police traffic south of my location. I am on a hill and have a clear shot north, east and west...but not south. I have been checking several sources for a really good outside antenna for the RS Pro-96. One of those is the tuned 700-1000 MHz UHF LP Antenna from DPD Productions. However, it has been pointed out to me that the Pro-96 might not handle a good outside antenna...that it might over power the 96 since it is a handheld radio and might cause distortion and perhaps pick up unwanted noise. Has anyone tried the Pro-96 with a really good outside antenna? The RS 800 MHz antenna that is sold separately works great for the north, east and west, but nothing to the south. I do have trees south but would hope a good antenna would help that situation. THANKS! for any input. AIRBEAR80
