KUSA - The Civil Air Patrol confirms at least three planes are searching for a reported missing aircraft.

According to the incident commander for the Colorado Wing, a twin engine Cessna airplane took off from Animas Airpark in Durango around 6:30 a.m. Sunday and arrived in Hayden around 7:30 a.m. There, the pilot picked up his father.

The plane left Hayden at 7 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at the Fort Collins airport at 9 a.m., but it never arrived.

The family called the FAA for help and around 11 a.m., the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center asked the Civil Air Patrol to look for the aircraft.

In addition to the planes in the search area, the Civil Air Patrol is collecting and analyzing radar and cell phone data.

9NEWS.com will update this story as more information becomes available.

ROUTT COUNTY, Colo. (MyFOXColorado.com) - Search and rescue teams in Routt County in northwestern Colorado are searching for a small plane.

It disappeared from radar and was reported missing after taking off from Yampa Valley Regional Airport at about 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say the pilot left Durango to pick up his father in Hayden. Then the two planned to fly from there to Ft. Collins, but the plane did not arrive at its destination.

Does anyone know if the DTRS TG is linked into their statewide VHF repeater system or what exactly it’s used for? I know many of the VHF repeaters are linked via microwave (shared from the state) and they're committed to the VHF system nationwide going forward. It wouldn't surprise me to see them on DTRS mutual aid channels from time to time, but they can't have more than a handful of 800 radios so I wonder why the dedicated TG on DTRS.

CAP DTRS TG is used for operations and is very active statewide currently and is not linked but remember DTRS can't be used in the air so thats where 148.150 comes into play.

Also 123.100 currently for some air to air with NG Chopper.

A good example of DTRS use is the currently CAP to Routt County interface occuring on MAC-17 and 18.

Heard this from Loveland dispatch yesterday. Was looking on a site that shows airtraffic. I don't have AIrnav, yet. Which brings up a question. Can someone go back, like the FBO and look at previous airtraffic? That might come in handy to see the aircraft take off and then see last known location from maybe Denver Center. I don't know. Maybe they need to request flight following to have the data logged.

Here's what I have nothing else.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS (AP) - Search crews say they have found the bodies of two men and the wreckage of a plane that's been missing since Sunday in northwest Colorado.

Randall Hannaway of Routt County Search and Rescue says the men are believed to be the pilot, 26-year-old Levi Klapperich of Durango, and his father, 56-year-old Mark Klapperich of Hayden.

Hannaway says the wreckage was found at about 1 p.m. Tuesday about six miles east of Steamboat Springs. It was about 28 miles east of Hayden, where the plane took off bound for Fort Collins.

Hannaway says the plane was badly damaged and there were signs of a fire.
