Hi All,

I've been monitoring the Overland Park, KS trunking system for a few weeks and I noticed that once in a while they use two talkgroups that do not appear to be on rr.com. The groups are 14-136 and 14-137, I have these labeled Antioch/Sanders Patch 1 & 2, I was wondering if anyone knew what these are for or why they aren't listed here.

Thanks

14-136 and 14-137 are indeed patched groups. The dispatcher can, at times when a single dispatcher is working both zones merge the individual 00-021 Sanders and 00-023 Antioch talk groups into a merged group.

On some Uniden scanners (I know the BC250/BC296 do) it will automatically detect the patches without programming them into the scanner, and display the patch number and all of the patched groups.

I guess my question is, since the Antioch talkgroup is rarely or never used, why do they use the patch groups?
I wouldn't know for certain, as I've been gone from the area for a year. When I left, there was two stations, and two dispatch channels. Both carried regular activity, but on night shift, they would usually patch them together, since only one dispatcher was working.

Hopefully someone else can answer this better than I can. You also might ask on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kc-scanning.

A lot of the info i've found over time suggests that they used to dispatch from both Antioch and Sanders, however it appears now that all primary dispatch comes from Sanders station and goes out over the Sanders channel. Based on what i've been hearing on the patch channels, it seems like communications between units and the non-primary dispatcher, though i don't know for certain.
