Does anybody know watch Overwatches frequecies are i can here them on federal net and on the helicopter channel they are over here in cherokee county a pretty good deal here of late hunting maji. with our narcotics unit and the state

Im guess they are out of mongomery and federal net is the 155.475 i used to Be an Officer in Cherokee County and thats what we called it. But now Overwatch may be what they call the state chopper i just dont remember hearin that when i went with the to cut down maji

That's the only frequencies I've ever heard them on, except for StateNet once.

Puzzleriddle, from what I've heard, Overwatch is like the "command" helicopter over the DPS and ANG helicopters during drug operations. I'm not sure if it's a DPS helo or what. The regular DPS helicopters use call-signs like "Blue Grey 37" and "Blue Grey 63", and I've only heard the ANG helos use numbers like "089".

The "federal net" is actually the National Net, 155.475 MHz. And the helo air-to-air freq is 123.025 MHz.

Yes, 155.475Mhz and 123.025Mhz are the ones I've been hearing them on. The other day they said that on 123.025 they were picking up traffic from the Atlanta area.

I heard them say the samething about the traffic from atl now ive seen the trooper helo flyin around my area durin eradication time but also see the national gaurd but i live at weiss lake and i see all sorts of military aircraft.

Overwatch could possibly be a RC-26B orbiting higher than you can see them, and "Overwatching" the entire operation. dunno

Examples of RC-26B employment include: following suspect to find drug supplier, video recording transactions and documenting locations of controlled buys (including wire recording), providing photos and video for planning ingress and egress for takedowns, providing a bird’s eye view of locations, allowing reporting of arrival/ departure of suspects, and to protect officers on the ground during takedowns, providing a platform for surveillance in areas where no other method is possible without compromise, and tracking fleeing subjects (vehicle or foot).

If they're coding overwatch they probably have people on the ground at the same time

Interesting, I didn't even know those existed!

Based on signal strength, Overwatch seems to stay in relatively the same area, regardless of where the other aircraft are. From Marion County, with a good antenna 25' up, they are usually just barely readable. When the other helos are in the far north part of the state, I can hear overwatch a little better. And one time when they were in Marion county, I could here the helos down low looking for marijuana loud and clear, but overwatch was still coming in pretty weak.

Also, there's been a few times when overwatch has stayed “on station” for really long periods when the helos took breaks at different times. All of this leads me to believe it IS some kind of fixed-wing aircraft.

Yeah, that's how I thought of it too (for the longest I thought Overwatch was the helo working directly with the guys on the ground). But in this case they are "covering" the helos that are working with the guys on the ground.

When I was in CAP, we would have aircraft up as a high bird, acting as a communications relay when we were in areas without repeater coverage. Some of the aircraft also had mobile repeaters onboard.

All the aircraft would do is fly a racetrack oval pattern over the area. Their entire flying mission was just to provide communications coverage.

For the past 3 days I have been hearing a helicopter unit,Three Seven was there call sign, call to Overwatch to give then coordinates here in Russell Co. I never heard Overwatch call back tell today.
Three Seven would call coordinates out and then Overwatch would say he will past them to the other units.
Also one time Three Seven told Overwatch to call him on his cell phone after Overwatch had landed
and before he got gased back up.
