Hi All,

I am a manual programmer with my Pro-197. I have a few different TSYS's that I've manually entered over the years. I recently decided to add a new TSYS or TRGP. It happened to me years ago too but figured it out somehow, but I kept overwriting my "main" TSYS which is in scan lists 01, 02, 03, 05 and 06. I should say that I have different talk groups in each of those scan lists. The same thing is happening again.

I already went to Programming Shortcut PSR-500/600 RS Pro-106/197 - The RadioReference Wiki and followed those instructions carefully, but still ended up overwriting 01. I've tried this at least 5 times. I have Mark's Easier to Read instructions too but that one is no help.

What I do is, I manually stop the scanning and go to scan list 06 which is my conventional stuff. I hit PROG, NEW, TRGP, I make sure that 01 does NOT have the * in front of it (07 is the default) and set it to *11 but as soon as I get to the Freq settings, I see the freq's from scan list 01 and stop at that point.

Please, don't suggest I get a cable and software. I know it's easier but am old and old fashioned and want to accomplish this manually. Any older threads dealing with this that I could find never really said what step the people were missing. There is some step that I am obviously missing to make it NEW. Can any one give me an idea what it is?

Thank you!

After deselecting scan list 01 and selecting scan list 06, hit the down arrow and select TSYS and make sure it says NEW. If NEW is not displayed, use the left/right arrows until NEW is displayed, then hit ENT or SEL.

You then set up your new TSYS object for the new talk group.
After you set up the TSYS object, you should return to the talk group setup menu and continue setting up the talk group options.

Thanks for the quick response.

When I arrow down from the Scan List choice (*11) to TSYS and press SEL, P25 Auto comes up. I think for a new system, it should default to MOT 800/900 and that's probably where my problem comes in. NEW is not displayed anywhere, and using the L and R arrows only scrolls through the different system types.

Thanks again!

You should see something like this:

Code:
> Talkgroup <
Scan Lists: *11
TSYS: NEW
Save Exit Dflt
If you don't see NEW displayed here, you will most likely be editing another TSYS entry.
BEFORE you hit SEL or ENT, toggle the left or right arrows until NEW is displayed.

At the point you hit SEL or ENT from the TSYS line, you are momentarily taken away from the Talk Group configuration and go into your TSYS configuration menus.

Thank you so much. The problem was that I hit SEL and should have just toggled down to TSYS and arrowed to NEW. It works perfectly now!

Hopefully this will help someone in the future with this same issue.

Thanks again TP!!
