signguy51 said:hey there, I'm also in Owensboro and am just getting into scanning. Would really like to chat with someone local to see what equipment they are using and what kind of success they have had. I am looking to buy a scanner in the next few weeks and would like as much info as possible about local systems so I don't waste my money on something that won't work for me locally. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Much of it never even makes the local newspaper. Moreover, scanners are priceless for knowing about approaching severe weather during the upcoming tornado season, which is just a month away in Kentucky and in April here in Michigan.
