I've been listening to this service and I noticed that dispatch will tell units to go to Ops2 Tac 3 or Ops2 Tac 1. I was wondering how they are differentiated on my scanner (BCD436HP). Different slots? They all seem to be on the same slot.

They should have 2-3 Tac channels that are simplex. More then likely analog. Might have to be with in a few km of them when on a call and use close call to pick it up

Try these in analog
151.4750
154.1000
154.1300
160.1100

Oxford County Fire depts are toned out on 154.100 analog. They stay on this channel until all units are on scene then they are assigned OPS and TAC channels on the "new" MotoTRBO radio system.

On the Elgin and Lambton County systems the TAC channels are all simplex. In Elgin they are digital, Lambton uses analog. It's a bit of a tricky setup.... Incident Command has to monitor and use 2 radios, but... it keeps your fire ground traffic and other traffic with dispatch etc from stepping on each other. But if IC is properly setup in a truck it shouldn't be too difficult to manage.

I hear dispatch on 154.100 whenever they talk but only hear the units on the MotoTRBO system. I'm not sure if the units move to a tac channel and I'm just hearing the commander on the OPS channel. They don't seem to move from the OPS channel. Unless the RR is missing frequencies.

Add these into your scanner,
See if you get any hits
They are the other frequencies assigned to Oxford County Fire, all are "listed" as analog

When on scene IC stays on the OPS channel. Firefighters and all fireground operations are on the TAC channel.

The other night there were a couple of major fires. I heard firefighters talking on the OPS channels while they were in the process of taking down the fire.

When they are assigned Tac Channels it sounds like it's a subset of an Ops channel. "Going to Ops 2 Tac1" "Going to Ops2 Tac 2"

There would be no reason to run the OPS channel in simplex. It's whole purpose is for IC to be able to talk to dispatch. I'm not saying they can't, but that's what you would normally use the TAC channel for. Here is what I could find in the TAFL licensed to Oxford county departments...

148.0450
149.3800
151.4750
152.6750 - Digital OPS
154.1000 - County Dispatch
154.1300

The 1st 2 will be repeater inputs for sure, maybe 151.475 as well. But I'd throw it and 154.130 in a radio and see if anything turns up. Remember if those are TAC channels you won't hear them unless you are right on top of them.
