Ozaukee EDACS upgrade

Big changes with the Ozaukee EDACS system...changes for the better! The signal is much stronger throughout the county. It also sounds as if the audio is more defined. Anyone have more info about this upgrade?

Yep, I read it...but didn't see anything except for confirmation that there was an upgrade. I'm curious as to what was upgraded: every squad radio or was it a server-side upgrade? I have also noticed that the beeps after a transmission (when scanning in conventional mode) are faster.

My guess: I think the system now has essentially all new site (backbone) equipment -- antennas, feedlines, transmitters/receivers, controllers, etc. -- which should be good for enhanced reliability (and better coverage). I believe the user mobile/portable radios are unchanged. Perhaps some older user radios will be replaced in the future (compliments of Nextel) as part of the rebanding project. I don't know any of this for sure, however.
