P 25 Threshold setting :
(1) What is the purpose of this setting ? It has 3 choices: Auto, manual, and default. If you choose manual you can set levels from 0 to 20.
(2) Is this for trunked systems or conventional P25 systems or both ?
(3) How do you know which to use and if manual, how do you choose the level ?

It is for decoding of P25 digital audio. Read page 99 of the manual. I use auto and then tweak my start setting. I haven't tried using manual yet.
