I just saw in the Cook Co database that the OEMC just got two new licenses for a P25 trunked system (WQZR532, WQZR533). The description states "PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO FOR FIRST RESPONDERS". Anyone have more info on this?

Not much accept they look to accomplish the project within the next 5 years is what I believe I read. And we are all hoping for minimal ENC.

The way Chicago gets anything done there will be plenty of time to still listen .. It took almost 10 years to get the FD off VHF and on to UHF ....

You're right about that. I wonder if CPD will ever use the other UHF freq listed in the database (Zones 14-16, Area-Wides, etc)...

In addition to the two licenses above, there's also a third license (WQZR530) for a P25 Phase II trunked system that will eventually replace the current Midway Airport UHF-T system.

Midway site is up and running, no traffic on it yet, but active control channel. Didn't register any neighbors yet either, so it's probably the only one so far. No surprise, Unitrunker showed it as Phase II capable. Not an overly powerful site, but good enough to decode the CC while riding on 294.

Hearing activity on TG 27003 with RID 2704002 on Midway's new P25 system. It appears to be a patch of CPD detail from UHF-T system. TG 27005 is Operations and TG 27002 is Security.

The 'Chicago Public Safety and Services' Motorola system is no longer in use. CPD Marine Unit is no longer using their talkgroup and their ops are now on 460.0375 (203.5 PL).

I wonder how many sites it will require to replicate the coverage CPD has with their current UHF system. They have hundreds of RX voter sites. At least they did years ago,

New (to me) control channel. 853.800, coming up as site 1-1 in Unitrunker. Fantastic signal out here in the suburbs, 99% decode on my Pro-197. No voice traffic that I've seen yet, but coming up as Phase II as expected. Alternate CCs are 852.350, 852.6375, and 853.1625. Showing the Midway site as a neighbor, again, as expected. This appears to be the main citywide simulcast site, covered under the licenses WQZR532 and WQZR533.
