I want to record control channel audio from the speaker of my SDS100?
Open squelch won't allow audio to be heard when frequency is searched and search stops when channel is detected.
Indicates P25 and data but no audio...any trick?
Thanks

Can you please elaborate on why you're wanting to record the control channel audio?

Program a conventional channel with that frequency and set the voice to analog FM. Set the squelch to wide open & try.

Uniden scanners will auto-mute when they detect a control channel. Also, decoding software requires raw discriminator (demodulated) audio, which is not what you're going to get from a recording out of the speaker.

Oh and you could probably turn on record and get WAV files from the radio, maybe. Don't know.

Decoding software works with .wav files
While that is true, just the audio from the headphone port will not work for that purpose. Any audio that comes out of the speakers or earphones of your scanner has been run through filters that actually will clip or distort the digital data, and it will not decode properly.

To capture the data stream, you will need to modify your scanner to add a "discriminator tap" which will pull off the unfiltered audio, which you could then use for that purpose. The project is not for the faint of heart (opening the case, thus voiding any warranty, soldering components and wires onto the board, etc.)

You're better off getting an SDR radio (around $25-30) and plugging it straight into the computer. There's a number of software applications that will record/decode the audio properly using the SDR.

Forget all that crap, just get an 20 dollar SDR and free SDRTrunk or Unitrunker and check it all out in real time
