Hi all,

Pickup up a strong P25 control channel in Downtown LA.

462.900
System ID: 002
WACN: 00003
RFSS: 001
Site: 8
NAC: 002

FCC license search seems to suggest this is WRZM708 (NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY NETWORK) and the license has 462.900 with P25 emission designators.

No traffic or affiliations heard over a period of 48 hours monitoring.

I found another site today,

471.425
System ID: 002
WACN: 00003
RFSS: 001
Site: 9
NAC: 002

License lookup comes back to WROW284 (NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY NETWORK, INC) and WPMP967 (NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY NETWORK, INC.) with same Corona, CA location.

The seem to have a bunch of LTR systems. Maybe they changing them over? Seeing any LRRP data? The offer tracking also.

Just a little follow up this morning on this new system:
Via Unitrunker from Orange County utilizing Site 9 [471.4250] (Maybe Santiago?)
Site 1: 462.8750
Site 3: 471.4250
Site 4: 462.8500
Site 8: 462.9000

A lot of changes at the NSTN system. Look for activity under Mountain Tower Ltd., PTTSTAR, etc. May no longer be associated with Ted Henry/Henry Radio. They also appear to be setting up ICOM iDAS systems to maybe sunset the LTR systems eventually.

From my location (West LA) copy both site 2 462.900 and site 9 471.425 quite strong. Typically would not be sold on 471.425 being Corona with such a strong signal, though the license ERP is listed as 1000 which is a bit nuts, so it might be afterall.

No traffic was noted monitoring these two control channels over several hours.

They are now owned by Bob Burchett of NOVEXCOMM fame. Good guy.

The Electronic Entities Group

They don't have much of a web presence. Essentially a group of hams, led by a ham who's got some business sense, so they actually turn a profit. He's got some characters working for him though. So I'm not surprised weird stuff is coming up here and there.

I'm not seeing how P25 can be effective for business use considering the cost of subscribers... But my guess would be he's not using Motorola equipment for this.

Visiting LA on business, and found another site on this mystery system:

Site 1.7 (picked up near Hawthorne Airport)
472.9125 NAC 370 (licensed to National Science and Technology Network)
Neighbors:
Site 1.9; CC=471.42500
Site 1.4; CC=472.45000
Site 1.3; CC=462.90000

Am picking up the previously noted Site 1.9 from my hotel in Lake Forest/Orange County.

Clearly a Phase I system based on the received bandplan.

Bandplan #0: Base=450.00000 Offset=+4.3375 Spacing=12.5 BW=12.5
Bandplan #1: Base=450.00000 Offset=+4.3125 Spacing=12.5 BW=12.5
Bandplan #2: Base=450.00000 Offset=+3 Spacing=12.5 BW=12.5
Bandplan #3: Base=450.00000 Offset=+4.4875 Spacing=12.5 BW=12.5
Bandplan #4: Base=450.00000 Offset=+4.5375 Spacing=12.5 BW=12.5

We can add another one to the list...

Site: 6
NAC: 003
Sys: 003
WACN: BCB83

CC: 472.7625

Neighbors: Sites 7 and 9

Very strong signal into Santa Clarita. No affiliations, no traffic, no ID, during the time I watched.

Are we sure we are talking about the same system?

Earlier post in this thread listed WACN: 00003 while the recent Bcorbin post indicates WACN: BCB83

Yeah, I probably should have added that the neighboring control channel frequencies being broadcast for sites 7 and 9 were identical to the control channel frequencies reported in previous posts for those sites… Sorry about that!

Can members confirm by monitoring the other sites that the new and correct WACN for this system is now BCB83?
